It’s that time of the year again. #GivingTuesday is here! Did you know that last year, $116.4 million dollars were donated on this national day of giving? Here’s to making 2016 an even bigger success. Are you on board?
This year, Foundation Center decided to approach #GivingTuesday in a different way. With our unique perspective in the sector, we get support so many amazing nonprofits every day. So, this year, we wanted to highlight some of those organizations in a special way – through a sweepstakes where 5 nonprofits would win a spot in our Twitter feed for the big day.
We’re so excited to share our 5 winners with you today. Take a look at this great group and see how they’re making a difference in their communities. Please consider a donation that will help them continue the great work they do!
1. Community Health Alliance
Community Health Alliance is located in Reno, Nevada and provides quality, affordable, comprehensive health services to all. For #GivingTuesday, they are raising funds to help 100 children receive sealants on their molars to help keep them healthy.
“Giving Tuesday is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday giving season,” says Emelie Melton Williams, Executive Director of Community Health Alliance “Northern Nevada has no shortage of need, but also no shortage of kind people who care about the health of our broader community. We hope you will consider giving from the heart.”
2. Mattie C. Stewart Foundation

We’ve got to keep finding ways to engage our young people through education and inspire them to great careers,” shares Dr. Shelley Stewart, Founder and President The Mattie C. Stewart Foundation “The more they disengage or drop out, the more our communities are left with societal ills that can be too big to handle.”
3. Building Futures
Alameda County-based Building Futures believes everyone deserves a safe place to call home. So 24/7/365, they advance a powerful spectrum of services to help individuals and families in crisis regain safe and stable lives.

With our aging population, these numbers are only going to grow, and APDA will work even harder to help people impacted by Parkinson’s live a better life today while we also fight for a better life tomorrow.
